Inspired by two biblical scriptures, John 19:16-18 and Matthew 16:24, this high-quality resin figurine depicts an African American Jesus carrying the cross to Golgotha "The Place of the Skull" prior to his crucifixion. The scripture in the Book of John reads:

"Then he handed him over to them to be crucified. So they took Jesus; and carrying the cross by himself, he went out to what is called The Place of the Skull, which in Hebrew is called Golgotha." - John 19:16-18

This hand painted inspirational and religious sculpture, however, is meant to inspire and remind the viewer of the words Jesus spoke in the Book of Matthew that reads: 

"Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me." - Matthew 16:24
